A multimedia stage play by Andreas F. Staffel for soprano, synthesizer, samples, video and dance based on his own texts and poems. In the symbiosis of text, music, image, movement and sound, an almost operatic panopticon unfolds, which allows us to experience the most diverse possibilities for shaping the text. Premiere on 3.11.2022 at the Brotfabrik Berlin.

The idea to create a multimedia play stage from my own previously unpublished poems and text fragments arose in the spring of 2022. In the summer I was then able to set the two-part work of a total of sixty minutes to music in Lusatia.

In one half each, poetry and prose from the period 2005-2008 and 2020-2022 are juxtaposed. In addition to sung verses, some of which are spoken on tape, instrumental passages and samples of city and nature sounds will be heard. Film clips alternate with dance and sign language.

The individual sections are full of contrasts and unexpected twists. The expectations of the audience are anticyclically broken. In the symbiosis of text, music, image, movement and sound, an almost operatic panopticon unfolds. Many of the poems were written at different places and times in Berlin and form a homage to the city. Alongside personal themes such as love, nature, travel and family are political, philosophical and humorous reflections. Towards the end, a song performed on guitar transports us to midnight Kreuzkölln.

(6.11.2008)

Nur einige Kubikmillimeter
Von dem Himmelblau
Trennte den Saum vom Säumigen
So rinnt Morgentau … nur einige Milligramm…
Sand im Stundenglas … der Gezeiten

Zerteilt von Millionen Reifen
Ersticken die Rillen im Stein
Wie Zeiger durchdrehend,

Sich doch nicht erreichend
Verharrend auf Klippen-allein …

Neonblau leuchten die Halme am Fluss
Eiserne Beats betäuben die Ohren
Ruderschlag bricht durch die Mitte der Nacht …

Zweifach im geraden Achtertakt
Klatscht traumlos
Die Welle den Morgen stromab.
